Q&A – JBay Kiteboarding Curaçao

Everything you want to know about our boutique kite school, lessons, packages and the spot in St. Joris Bay.

About the School

A small boutique kite school focused on personal coaching and real progress. We are not a mass commercial school.

No. We only teach strictly private (1-on-1) sessions.

We teach in English, Dutch, Spanish and Papiamentu.

We focus on real progress and personal coaching instead of volume. We teach on the quieter side of St. Joris Bay, give 2-on-1 attention during the crucial early phase, and adapt completely to the individual student. Commerce is secondary to the quality of the experience.

For adventurous individuals who want a real, non-generic kite experience and serious personal coaching — not a standard mass-package lesson.

Lessons and Progression

Most students reach independent riding (upwind + safe launching & landing) in 6–9 lessons. Fast and determined learners often get there in 4–6 lessons.

You pay for a set number of lessons and receive extra lessons free:

  • 1-Week package → pay for 3, get 4
  • 2-Week package → pay for 4, get 6
  • 3-Week package → pay for 6, get 9

Your success is guaranteed. If you reach the goal earlier, you simply finish sooner. If you need more time, the extra lessons in the package cover it. No extra cost and no pressure.

No. We teach all levels. Beginners follow our structured “To Hero” progression. Advanced riders get personal coaching on jumps, transitions, tricks or refining technique.

Two full hours of water time. The lesson clock starts only when you are geared up and standing in the water.

The Spot & Experience

On the quieter western/south-western side of St. Joris Bay, opposite the main kite beach. This side has cleaner wind, almost no other kiters and is still largely undeveloped.

You ride in a raw, natural environment with mangroves, turtles and open space. At the same time everything stays fully controlled and safe. It’s personal, focused, and far from a mass-school feeling.

On our side of the bay it is usually very quiet. That is intentional.

The lessons are intensive — two full hours on the water is physically and mentally demanding.
You can expect muscle soreness (especially in your core) in the first days.
In March and April there can be sargassum. When it appears we simply start higher up the coast.
We always adapt to the conditions and to your level, but come prepared for real water time and focused effort.
