Kitesurf Courses & Lesson Packages
in Curaçao | St. Joris Bay

Learn to kitesurf at St. Joris Bay with fully private lessons (minimum 1-on-1). We focus on maximum water time and real progress instead of beach theory. Our ‘To Hero’ packages are built around your stay length and give you the freedom to progress at your own pace — without pressure.

Your Progression – From Complete Beginner to Independent Rider

We follow a proven step-by-step structure, but we move exactly as fast as you progress. Theory is given during the practice sessions. You learn by feeling and doing, not by listening to long explanations on the beach. Most of our students reach independent upwind riding (Phase 3) in 6–7 lessons. Some faster, some a bit slower. That’s normal — and exactly why our packages exist.

Phase 1 – Kite Control & Safety

  • Safe kite handling, setup and complete safety systems
  • Body dragging, water relaunch and self-rescue skills
  • Real kite control in different wind strengths and conditions

In this phase you learn to truly feel and control the kite. We focus on safety, body position and building confidence in the water so you have a solid foundation for the next steps.

Phase 2 – Water Starts & First Rides

  • Power strokes, getting the board on your feet and water starts
  • First rides with controlled stops and smooth board control
  • Confident riding in both directions with proper technique

Many students already enter this phase during their second lesson. Clean stops and riding both ways usually come one lesson later. This is where the real fun begins and the movements start connecting.

Phase 3 – Independent Riding (The Goal)

  • Riding upwind (this takes the most time and practice)
  • Unlearning bad posture and learning to fully trust the kite
  • Transitions, safe self-launching & landing with full confidence

Upwind riding is mainly about making meters, building muscle memory and mental confidence. This is where most of the real work happens and where you finally become a free and independent rider.

How we teach

Everyone can learn to kitesurf (from age 10 to 100), as long as you weigh at least 40 kg. Progress is highly individual — we always aim for the right balance between efficient learning and recovery.

Our ‘To Hero’ Progression Packages

Our packages are designed around results, not fixed hours. You pay for a clear goal and receive the lessons you actually need. Fast learners finish earlier. Slower learners get free extra lessons. This removes pressure and maximises your progress during your stay. The packages are mainly matched to how long you are on the island. You can always move from one package to another so your advantage stays or even increases if you stay longer.

Courses FAQ

Here are the answers to the ones we get asked most often

Most students reach independent upwind riding in 6–7 lessons. Some need 8–10. Our packages cover this range.

We teach in English, Dutch, Spanish and Papiamentu.

Two hours of focused coaching is already intensive. More than that is usually counterproductive. A rest day in between works best.

Yes. You can move to a longer package at any time and keep or increase your advantage.
No. We only teach private lessons (minimum 1-on-1).

Kitesurfing is 100% weather-dependent. Your safety and a high-quality experience are our top priorities. If our team cancels your lesson due to a lack of wind or unsafe weather, you will not lose your lesson. We will immediately try to reschedule your session. If rescheduling is impossible (e.g., the end of your vacation), you will receive a full refund for the unspent hours, or you can convert the value into a flexible JBay Gift Card valid for 2 years.

We understand that plans can change! To keep our booking system fair for everyone, we handle the following cancellation rules:

• Change of plans? You can cancel your entire course up to 42 hours before the start for a full refund.
• Single sessions: Individual lessons can be moved or rescheduled free of charge up to 24 hours in advance.
• Please note: Cancellations or late changes within 24 hours of a session, or no-shows, will be fully charged (100% of the lesson price) or 1 credit will be deducted from your package.
